Not as much as I expected. Even with the shampoo and conditioner I bought to maintain the color the total was what I thought it was going to run just for the cut & color (which was 3 different processes in reality and took, including the cut, 3 hours).
The other title for this post was going to be: Scraps of Life, You got new hair! Only it’s not new HAIR as much as new color and style. So, in case I never manage to get it looking like this again, here is proof that it looks good in the hands of a stylist.

From the Front, MySpace style

Close up to show red streaks, straight and curled style
Spectrum pointed out that my hair actually matches the ring I’m wearing in the second picture, which makes my hair color (unofficially) smokey quartz with garnet highlights.
My only fear is that the red is going to blend in too well, I actually intend for it to be noticeable.

I think I got more phone calls today, alone, than I have in the previous month. Total. True, my cell phone is my only phone (no land line by choice) but I use it mainly for texting. It’s so much simpler that way.
Of all the calls I got only 1 was actually for me, it was a reminder of my follow-up appointment with the gastro on Monday. The others were just absolutely wrong numbers (though one, I swear, thought they were calling Pat Buchanan… dude…). The final call of the day came just before 9pm and was from the (out of town? 803 area code?) Obama Campaign office asking if I needed a ride to the polls.
How many times do I have to tell the Universe that I am NOT interested in politics and that I choose NOT to vote in the upcoming elections and have done for quite some time. Howl all you want, those who thing I’m wrong or stupid or whatever but I was, once, very politically active and very opinionated on the subject. After a while I became not so much disillusioned but more disgusted by the whole process. Nonetheless, I also ascribe to the mantra that if you don’t participate you don’t get to complain, so I just stay out of it completely. I may decide to become politically active again, who knows? But the one way to insure I don’t is to pester me, at night, on my cell phone with unwelcome offers of “assistance”.
I still don’t know if they were working from a phone bank a la every other telemarketer in the world or if some “friend” had given them my number. If it was the latter, though, and I find out who did it… not happy with you will be a gross understatement.

When knitting two stitched portions together, make sure they are both pointing the SAME WAY before binding off any stitches. Man, that was a bitch to frog! But it’s all fixed, now, and there’s one pretty doggone perfect toe-cap on the circs waiting for the next one so I can knit the rest of both socks at one time. I’m looking forward to getting them both done at once
I also managed to do a load of laundry, fix supper, write an article and pencil a comic and a half. Sounds like a productive evening to me!

And it’s a nice change of pace! Granted, I pulled out the needles because of an article but it’s spurred me to start on some holiday knitting that’s long overdue (like, almost 2 years…). Then I had to recheck a technique step and ended up wandering around the recent edition of knitty.com. Ah, lovelies, now I have at least 2 more projects I want to knit, one for Christmas and the other for January. Where I’m going to find the time for it, unknown, but I’m gonna give it a shot

The valiant attempt that was my 24hour Comics Day was made all the better by a very supportive Spectrum who, along with frequent hugs and back rubs, brought me yummies from the Greek Food Festival both Friday and Saturday. What a guy!
I managed to script, lay out and letter all 24 pages but only pencilled the first 6. Still, that’s a really good head start for November and December so I can’t really complain.
What I _can_ complain about is the noise coming from the upstairs apartment. Ugh. It’s after 11 pm and there have been screaming, running, jumping girls for the last couple of hours up there and now there’s a car blasting in the parking lot that I have a feeling is somehow connected. Ugh, I just went out there are there are two cars that seem to be “competing”. There are a couple of kids in the backseat of one (the one without the illegal tinting on the windows) but they wouldn’t respond to my request to turn it down.
Come on, people. It’s a school/work night, after a11pm and not everyone shares your penchant for base-thumping slow jams.
