Spoofed!

Is that like the computer version of being Punk'd? Not that I would EVER watch that show. I'm not a fan of the candid camera-style shows, not even Girls Behaving Badly. I'm just embarrassed for them I guess--not the people being pranked, the people debasing themselves for the sake of supposed humor.

Anyway, I digress.

If you get an email from me with an attachment chances are it's not really from me. Not only do I not have the virus dujour, my email program is closed overnight and during the day (where I check from a Mac at werk)...so the window of opportunity for legitimate emailing is only about 4 hours a night. Add to that fact I have a completely updated version of Norton that scans everything incoming and outgoing and you have very little chance of getting a virus from moi. (Ain't no bugs on me/ oh their ain't no bugs on me/ might be bugs on some of you mugs/ but their ain't no bugs on me!)

I have, however, received no less that 10 emails this morning with such suspicious tagalongs, and 3 emails telling me that either a) you're email could not be delivered to xxxx because it contained a virus or b) you're email [coincidentally containing a virus] of unintelligible gibberish could not be delivered because xxxx does not exist.

This has been a public service announcment, please don't blame me if someone spoofing my address decides to send you something you didn't ask for but opened anyway.

Life Coaching

Lots of talk on this subject on certain boards, and today someone shared this article < http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/northwestlife/2001842686_lifecoach26.html > on such coaches. What I found most intriguing were the .pdf files in the "Assessment Tools" box. Now, checklists and fill-in-the-box charts usually make my heart go pitty-pat...Not these bad boys. The biggie, the Clean Sweep, oh I am soooo in need of an overhaul. And usually these lists have a lot of flotsam and jetsom that doesn't apply so I just shrug it off. Nope, this list only had maybe 1 item out of 100 that didn't apply to me and most I answered no to rather begrudingly...like I don't want to admit that I haven't done that and that it impacts my life so much, but it does because if I'd done it then it wouldn't creep up and I wouldn't have to worry about it, know what I mean?

Anyway! Go, look, get your reality check and cash the measly thing so you can use what you do have to accomplish the other 75 items on the list.

(I promise to fix the headers and links later tonight...something fiddly with the web portal and the fruit. Gee, I was actually going to be bloggy and posty links and I can't even do that from here. So if I don't write enough or the quality to be a journal--that which I would prefer--yet also do not post nearly enough links to be a true blog--because isn't that what a blog really is???--then what in the world am I? I know, I'm me...just typing to hear myself talk, humoring my *slight* narcicism because, well, I can...I bought the domain for that very purpose!)

The Secret is Out!

Or, I should say, off: Top Secret off of the needles that is! I have all-but completed my first sweater. All that is left to do are the weaving in of the yarn ends and the 3-needle bind-off on the armpits...whatever a 3 needle bind-off, that is. There's a link in the pattern so once I go to that I should have this baby completely done by tomorrow night. And if Florida decides to drop this unseasonably warm and humid spell (come on, is 70+ degrees right for January?!?! NO!) I might be able to waer it to Knit Night Tuesday at Borders.

Next up is Sonnet, another Knitty patterm, as a Knit Along on the yahoogroup of the same name. I have my guage swatch done and have worked all the pattern math, bought enough yarn (I hope...I did end up with an extra skein from top secret...suppose I could have made it longer...hindsight), so Tuesday night, whether I can wear Top Secret or not, I will be working on Sonnet.

There is also a knit along I am doing that is a shawl. It will be good practice although I have doubts about whether I will actually get any use out of that one. I did pick some of the baby yarn with sparkles in white, so that it can be pretty at least and comfy to touch while knitting it up.

In non-knitting news I returned the student chair that should have been made by little tykes and got a differnt, more mature chair. It's put together and doing a much better job than either of its predecessors.

New Year

So, as I sit here, just a tad past midnight on the first day of the new year, at my newly assembled desk (my poor manicure) working on my new computer (didn't I have a resolution--intention about money management???) devoid of clutter as yet, I have to say that this year is starting out very well.

Of course, I rand it in while trying to find a way to export my OE messages without having the Windows Messaging mail server or Outlook regular or that other program that facilitates it. V searched for and found a free download backup that did a wonderful job of moving my messages (all several thousand of them...Housekeeping?!?) from my old (256MHz, 8Gig harddrive) dinosaur to the backup drive on our network and then back over to my new (2.5GHz, 40Gig harddrive) wonderbot.

I think it took me longer to name the new addition than to pick it out and decide it (an HP Pavillion) over the Dell we had been contemplating. Basically I decided instant gratification was worth more than a $50 DVD Burner and a week and a half to two weeks waiting on delivery.

Now I just need to settle this chair issue: Who knew (certainly not I) that when the box said "Student Chair" it meant elementary to middle, not high through college? Granted, it could have been worse, it actually does its job and my knees don't bump my chin or the keyboard shelf (gotta love that...it's been so long since I've had one of those), but by Sunday it will have been disassembled and returned to which it came.

I suppose hoping for a perfect January 1 would be a bit much after all.
