Reunion Part 2

So Saturday morning dawned hot but clear, with no trace of rain cloud in the sky. Too bad, a nice drizzle might have been welcome aroun 1 o'clock when everyone was dropping from the heat.

After a tad bit of confusion (we arrived before the signs were posted) we finally found the picnic being set up over on the practice feilds, accessible by that lovely cross-over. I always hated that thing when we had to use it to get to marching band practice, and today was no different. I survived however.

There were only a few people there when I crossed over, but the group gradually filled in, with only a few participants that weren't at Cafe Cabernet last night. Probably the highlight was seeing everyone's kids: our class certainly spawned some cuties!

Once again Shane, John, Qedrin, Van and I ended up in conversation but it made for quite the enjoyable afternoon. The food, provided by Hettie Spooner of REMAX, was from Sonny's--always a good choice--and the kids played on an inflated castle. By about 2pm many had left or were leaving, the sun finally getting to us regardless of the tent and fans provided.

Reunion Part 1

Okay, tonight was the informal meet-and-greet for my 10-year reunion. What fun! It started out kind of iffie, just a few people there and a rather wonky reservation for 15 AT 7:30...that no one quite new about...until the girl that made the reservation got there and then we realized we were at HER table lol

Nonetheless, I think we had a pretty good showing at Cafe Cabernet, everyone seemed to have a good time, the alcohol flowed for most and there was general frivolity all around. Probably the biggest surprise of the night was Qedrin, who I didn't hang out with so much (okay, at all really) in hu=igh school yet we seem to have oh so much in common now that its a tad scary! lol

I got lots of good pictures of people, most of whom I'll remember the names, and looking forward to more tomorrow at the barbecue. There were notable absences, but hopefully I'll meet up with them tomorrow!

Okay, time to go read a book and come down from the contact high that I'm on (the wine buzz has long since faded).

I suppose I could post once in a while...

Like now, why not? lol

Okay, to recap: My Masters entries have been mailed. Now to wait on pins and needles until Sept when the calls start going out.

I finished the main necklace I plan to wear to the reunion. Took 3 tries to get it just the way I wanted but I learned a new skill in the process: beaded needleweaving.

Abbie is 10 months old and in full-on rebellious tenn-pup mode. My kitchen floor will never be the same.

MMD went down but it now back up and even improved! Long live the Divas!

Okay, on to the million other things on my list!

All Shopped Out

If you can believe that!

So, a while back when I was talkinh to Mom about the 10-year reunion coming up she asked me (kind of surprisingly) what I was going to wear. When I said I wasn't sure and would probably need to go shopping, she asked to come along quickly followed by "I'll buy you an outfit if you let me help pick it out." Who am I to say no to free clothes?

Anyway, yesterday was the day we settled on and we met for lunch after my manicure. Mom's friend C came along with her son P and his girlfriend L; quite a merry bunch all told. After lunch we headed to the mall. First stop Dillard's where we actually did find an outfit for me pretty quickly but the make sure we looked around a bit more. I began to feel like their dress-up doll when we hit the dresses. Mom picked out this otherwise lovely red dress w/a jacket, but the thing weighed twenty pounds!

Then there was this beautiful, simple, silk sheath in sage green silk, high waist--really pretty. But my boobs didn't quite fill it out/high waist wasn't quite high enough, and there were these gaudy painted and sequined hibiscus flowers (fuschia!) on one side of the hem. Mom asked how it fit. I answered, "Well, like I'm pregnant, in Hawaii." At least she laughed at that one. Oh, and lets not forget the flouncy one that had me thinking Blanche Dubois meets Steel Magnolias (two pigs fightin' under a blanket).

Mom was feeling generous I suppose and then decided we would look for some casual shirts as my general wardrobe needed an update all its own. This proved more difficult than the first task as I do not like the regular short sleeve styles nor do I like scooped or boat necks. V's and squares are ever so much more flattering, and I despise a lot of excess stitching across the bust line (which is unfortunately popular these days).

Several mall-shops later and then a trip to Beall's finally yeilded one skirt, one pair of capris, and 7 shirts. Mom is convinced that I am even more picky than she is whne it comes to clothes. Add to that I found a cute pair of tan heels for $4 at Cato that will look great with slacks, and a pair killer, almost domanatrix looking black stilettos at Famous Footwear, that V actually bought for me.

I think this has me set for a little while?
